Ghorenfore pauses a moment and contemplates everything he has been told.
"Marilyn, if your coming along with us, there is of course the small matter of who to leave in charge of the fort?"
Ghorenfore looks around at the group and his eyes settle once again on Marilyn
"I'll stay here and send Kirak in my place. Martin and Hlin will be the other two to go as well. The fort will need one of us here for sure, and I understand your need to go."

FORT OLVEWATER
Moonday, Sunsebb 3rd, 586 CY
Time: 07:04:00

GLASSBLOWER blinks her eyes and straightens her back. She looks unprepared for that option.
"But we shall three people who can turn undead left at the fort. That does not seem tactically sound."

She turns to look in the direction of NYDENT. The young elven cleric still looking over FAWN's burial. GLASSBLOWER sighs quietly and heads in that direction, LOWLYN follows behind her.

FENNIGAN looks at GHORENFORE, eyebrow raised.
"Master Sergeant MELISSA LANSE is more than capable of running a fort in your absence. I figured that was part of the reason that you gave her the promotion. With KIRAK, GLASSBLOWER, and FORLIN to help with guidance, I see no reason to be terribly concerned."

Here's FAWN's equipment that was removed by CLARA:

Masterwork composite longbow
Masterworked longbow arrows (20) LOWLYN would be set suited to have these
Masterworked rapier
Gold bracelet: +2 Charisma-based skill checks
longbow arrows +1(39) LOWLYN would be best suited to have these
Potion of cure light wounds (1st Level) x2
Quaal's feather token (bird)
Scroll (Divine) - 1st level - calm animals
Scroll (Divine) - 3rd level - magic fang, scent
Scroll (Divine) - 3rd level - light step (new spell), longstrider, camouflage
Scroll (Divine) - 5th level - magic stone, lesser restoration, extended produce flame
Wand - level 1 - entangle (unknown charges)
Wand - level 1 - summon nature's ally I (unknown charges)
White fur boots: cold weather feels like spring, normal movement on icy terrain
Potion (unidentified) - black with a yellow center
Potion (unidentified) - cloudy red & violet
Potion (unidentified) - green cat's eye
Potion (unidentified) - peacock feather floating in it
Shard (unidentified) - faint sky blue glow
Shard (unidentified) - faint deep brown glow
Shard (unidentified) - faint obsidian glow

DM POST: Let me know who wants what piece of gear, so I can record it. Also, the scrolls can be used by other classes, depending on the spell.

Straightening up and quirking an eyebrow as Lady Glassblower leaves, Ghorenfore looks at Fennigan and nods. He knew Lady Glassblower had no idea WHY he wanted to stay behind, but it was a moot point and he was probably worrying needlessly anyway.

"Very well, that’s an even better idea, we'll have Master Sergeant Lanse take Command of the fort then. I'll go with the team, Kirak will stay here, and Martin and Hlin will also go as well."

Ghorenfore takes a deep breath rubbing his chin,

"We'll need to Make sure sure Kirak Knows he's assuming ALL of the Master Sergeant’s duties while she assumes all of mine. Furthermore I want to make sure we keep the same communication schedule we had before. Let’s make sure were keeping the lines open. If anything happens I want to know about it."

Ghorenfore looks out the door and watches as Lady Glassblower walks away. He wasn't completely comfortable leaving her side, or her security to just anyone, and although he knew most everyone in this fort very well, he still would have felt better if he could have been personally in charge of her security while she was here, to much was depending on her ability to make it to Hococh alive and well, and if anything were to happen to her he would never forgive himself.

"Also Lets make sure Kirak Knows I'm holding him personally responsible for the Lady's safety while she's here."

FORT OLVEWATER
Moonday, Sunsebb 3rd, 586 CY
Time: 07:04:48

FORLIN steps aside.
"I should tell Lady GLASSBLOWER. I believe she is going to tell NYDENT that he is going with the team to track down NERRAUNE."

FORLIN departs to catch GLASSBLOWER.

FENNIGAN says to GHORENFORE, while GHORENFORE is looking at GLASSBLOWER.
"Lady GLASSBLOWER has her protectors, Lieutenant. Do not forget that. NYDENT and FORLIN will not leave her side. We will all do as well as we can in a war zone. All the rest, is not our choice."

FENNIGAN places a hand on GHORENFORE's shoulder. He smiles.
"Now, let's go tell KIRAK, MEL, and MARTIN the good news."
FENNIGAN looks at the sun shining through the trees in the east.
"We need to do it soon, we need to leave in less than an hour."

Ghorenfore Nods, and proceeds out of the tent, his first stop is to see Kirak. He smirks a little as he walks out of the tent because he knows deep down, he is the last person Kirak wants to see.

A few seconds later he finds Kirak attending to his duties
Ghorenfore calls out to him “KIRAK...”
To which Kirak immediately rolls his eyes.
“Look,” Kirak says standing to attention “I Know I disobeyed an order Lieutenant.”
Ghorenfore cuts him off “Save it Sergeant, I’m not interested in your excuses.”
Kirak raises an eyebrow and looks at Ghorenfore with a puzzled look, “May I ask why sir?” Kirak responds in kind.
“Because you were right...” Ghorenfore says more Honestly then Kirak was truly prepared for.
Kirak smiles “wow, I bet that hurt!” he says sarcastically
Ghorenfore clears his throat “Watch your place Sergeant...”
Kirak chuckles “You won’t be able to use that forever you know...”
Ghorenfore raises an eyebrow and looks at Kirak with an impatient glance, “Are you done yet?”
Kirak laughs “So your admitting you were wrong then?”
Ghorenfore shakes his head no and proceeds to ignore the Sergeants comments
“I’m leaving Mel in charge of the fort and taking Marilyn with me. You’ll be taking over all of her duties as she’ll be taking over all of mine.”
Kirak coughs “so you are punishing me then?”
Ghorenfore shifts his weight to his opposite foot and chuckles at Kirak’s comment
“Sergeant,” Ghorenfore pauses then corrects himself “Kirak, I’m holding you personally responsible for the Lady Glassblowers safety, and the security of this fort.”
Kirak instantly stands at attention and gives a nod, “Understood Lieutenant, you can count on me.”
Ghorenfore nods “I knew I could Sergeant, I knew I could...”
As Ghorenfore turns to walk away he stops a few feet then turns
“Ohh and Sergeant,” he says with a grin and a smile “I’m never wrong”
To which Kirak simply gives a stolid stare to.

As Ghorenfore passes Martin on his way to find Master Sergeant Lanse, he stops and turns to the former Lieutenant,
“Martin,” He says commandingly “I’m dropping the charges on you and dismissing you from the army. Consider yourself a free man. If you wish to remain as a sellsword, we’ll be leaving to find Nerruane’s within the hour, report for duty there. Otherwise your free to go your own way.”
Ghorenfore turns on his heels and walks away.

A few minutes later Ghorenfore proceeds on to find Master Sergeant Lanse
When he finds her he walks up to her quietly and smiles.
“Master Sergeant,” he says
“Lady Glassblower, some of her team and Forlin will be remaining here, Marilyn will be coming with us in an effort to find Nerruane. I’ll be leaving the Fort to your capable hands. Please make use of Sergeant Kirak as you need to.”
Kirak gives her a nod and a salute then adds
“I’m counting on you to hold this together until we return, Make use of Forlin’s Sending spell and keep me apprised of any situations as they develop.

FORT OLVEWATER
Moonday, Sunsebb 3rd, 586 CY
Time: 07:07:18

MEL salutes GHORENFORE. She stands at attention proudly.
"Yes, Lieutenant. But there is another matter I must speak with you about. It's the troops, Lieutenant. A lot has happened in only a few days; mainly I speak of the loss of MARTIN as their leader and all of the officer changes around here. It's been a little difficult for them to keep up. Their morale is beginning to suffer. Before you leave again, you need to speak with them, reaffirm opf the righteousness of the cause. Hells, you should simply let them know how you respect and trust them."

TANYA had been standing silently behind MEL. She giggles quietly.

MEL turns back, stares omniously at TANYA, and turns back to GHORENFORE.
"And she's not allowed to 'boost' the men's morale any longer."

TANYA smiles coyly and snaps her fingers.
"Shucks."

FENNIGAN is noticeably shaken, but lets the comments end there.
"These are things I need not know."

FENNIGAN looks at GHORENFORE and rapidly changes the subject.
"I nearly forgot. I took the liberty of identifying the black feathers we took off the undead druid. I identified one of them, as Quaal's Whip Feather Token. I figure the other feather is exactly the same thing. It conjures a massive whip that helps the wielder in combat by fighting beside the wielder and moving as commanded by the wielder. I intend to give one to GLASSBLOWER and one to FORLIN. It would be an added boost to the defenses of the fort and it keeps our elven diplomat a little more protected. Right now, I'm going to look over FAWN's former equipment and see what those potions could possibly be. After that we can pass out what gear we can before we leave."

MEL chimes in.
"That reminds me, we still have the small amount of magical gear we took from the orc scouting party holed up in the armory tent. Perhaps the team can make use of it."

The gear was from an attack on the orc scouting party that harrassed a fort scout group days before. This was the scouting party whose survivors went back and told the orcs where the forts was. These events led to the orc/ogre force that camped out on the western side of the Olvewater until they were defeated by the team escorting GLASSBLOWER. The gear has been untouched for over a week.

MEL gets two of the troops to go to the armory tent and retrieve the equipment.

HIMO gathers his thoughts as he walks to his tent and starts saying his prays from the day. As he see time to stop by LADY GLASSBLOWER after the morning meetings and ask her in Elven "When you and I have time if I can have a chance to talk?"

As various conversations & activity continue around the fort, MARTIN stands unmoving & somewhat stunned as GHORENFORE's brief words slowly sink in. Once his mind grasps what's been said, he rushes to grab his gear & be ready to go on the hunt.

Ghorenfore watches Mel leave and then Turns to Fennigan
"I'll be addressing the troops in five minutes, Let me know when you have looked at everything and we'll divide it up as you suggest."
Ghorenfore begins to head out of the tent and looks back around at Fennigan
"Thanks for your help Fennigan."

Ghorenfore Finds Mel
"Assemble the troops around where we had Fawn's burial, I'll be addressing them in a few minutes."
Ghorenfore gives her a salute
"Thank you Master Sargeant"

Ghorenfore proceeds and waits as the troops are assemled.

Ghorenfore stood next to where Fawn’s burial had taken place, looking out over the troops and took a deep breath, he made sure in those brief few seconds he made eye contact with each individual. He even captured Marilyn’s eyes and for a moment and he looked at her and smiled. Looking on he maintained a stoic proud feel to his demeanor and he cleared his throat.
“I know I have asked an awful lot of each of you over the past few weeks. The changes I’ve made haven’t been easy to understand and some of you may even be doubting the cause of which we are a part.”
Ghorenfore paused and took a deep breath
“At some point in our lives we all come to a cross road where we may doubt a cause, or doubt in something we thought we believed in. We were convinced so fully of something and now we feel as if it is slipping away, and that belief is no longer as strong as it may have been.”
Ghorenfore looks at the ground and takes in a deep breath.
“I’m not going to stand here and tell you, that everything will be fine and were going to be ok. I won’t insult your intelligence with foolish notions, The fact is when we all signed on we knew we may not come back, it’s war bad things happen and sometimes we can’t control that. But we make it through each day because we know what were fighting for is the right thing.”
Ghorenfore continues to look out among the troops
“Instead I’m going to tell you what I believe and what I see.”
His eyes read the confidence he is about to convey, as he pauses for a brief moment and looks out into their eyes once more.
“There is no man or woman here I would not trust with my own life, I see an Army of my fellow soldiers who know what must be done, who prepare for the inevitable each day and who accept whatever fate that lies on these shores. I believe our cause is just and right. I believe each one of you is capable of great things, and through courage and confidence you all may overcome great obstacles. I believe each person here has a chance to taste that freedom which we fight for each day, and most of all I believe what we have here on this ground is greater than any orc, or giant, or monster of the deep can ever crush, and that’s a Brotherhood.
Ghorenfores take a deep breath as the passion set into his voice
“We rise together, we fall together, we live together and if Pelor calls upon us, we will die together, but we will do it as Brothers and Sisters. For it is ONLY together that we will make THAT stand and as a family in arms we will make certain they know that this hallowed Ground is OURS. That the line we have chosen to draw HERE, in this sand says THIS FAR, AND NO FARTHER!!!!”

PostSubject: Moonday, Sunsebb 3rd, 586 CY: Fort Olvewater   Greyhawk: Against the Giants: Return to Hochoch - Page 34 EmptyFri Jul 09, 2010 1:15 am

FORT OLVEWATER
Moonday, Sunsebb 3rd, 586 CY
Time: 07:10:24

There is an uproar from the troops assembled. Swords and longspears are raised high in sync with the shouts. When dismissed, the troops return to their duties, preparing the fort and canoes for an unknown future.

GLASSBLOWER remains quiet until GHORENFORE finishes his speech. At the conclusion of the speech, she turns to HIMO and HLIN.
"HLIN, you need not worry about NYDENT; he's not coming with you. Lieutenant GHORENFORE will be going with you to confront NERRAUNE."
GLASSBLOWER turns to HIMO.
"What is it you wish to talk to me about?"

Time: 07:12:48

FENNIGAN and MEL meet up with GHORENFORE after the speech is concluded.
"A rousing speech, Lieutenant. Perhaps the screams from the men have frightened every giant within twenty miles."

FENNIGAN has the potions wrapped up in a blanket, and he deposits the blanket on the ground. He kneels and begins swifting through the potions.
"Okay we have five potions here."
The first potion he holds up is black with a yellow center.
"This is a Potion of Spider Climb."

The second potions is a cloudy mix of reds and violet liquids. The colors radiate out from the center of the potion at random intervals.
"This is a Potion of Rage. It creates an effect similar to the infamous Suel or Flan barbarian rages without the fatigue time."

The third potion FENNIGAN holds up is a clear potion with a ghostly green cat's eye floating in the center.
"This is a Potion of Cat's Grace."

The fourth potion is a light blue color, but has a peacock feather floating in it.
"I know nothing about this potion. I would need more time to discover its exact use. However the magical aura is Transmutation and it is a weak aura. It's not incredibly powerful, but could be useful."

FENNIGAN holds up the fifth and final potion. GHORENFORE sees the liquid inside is clear. However, when at eye level with the liquid, the liquid mimics the colors of the surrounding area, the brown from the leafless trees and the pale color of FENNIGAN's hand.
"I have not discovered this potion's function yet, either. I cannot discern the magical aura of the potion, either. However, the potion, unlike the others, has a more powerful aura. In arcane terms, I would say the potion is of moderate strength."

HIMO say " I know you don't need me to be sorry for what have done yesterday but one of our allies came back dead and it pissed me off but i know it wasn't anyone's fault i have alot on my mind and for some reason. I just ape shit with FAWN's death so i want to say i am sorry for my out burst. I have 3 reasons to be with you and our allies against these odds with anyone who doesn't us to be here."

As HIMO clears his throat looks into LADY GLASSBLOWER's eyes and say " I would like some help with dealing with our latest allies. I know we are at war, I am a fighter for my people and all those that live with in our forest. My Elders are not easy going with new people and I don't like it but it keeps us alive. And I like the help that NYDENT and the rest of the party as giving me to be more open minded about other people. But i would like more help and understanding of the outside of my home. HLIN and I would like to start a fighting company that helps any elf and dwarf like in need."

HLIN ask Ghorenfore "What is the plan for our next battle with this undead badies?"

FORT OLVEWATER
Moonday, Sunsebb 3rd, 586 CY
Time: 07:15:24

GLASSBLOWER looks HIMO in the eyes with a determined stare.
"FAWN's death was someone's . . . something's fault, and that beast will have to answer for it. And I hope it ran back to daddy NERRAUNE when FORLIN turned it. It will answer to vengeance, I'm sure."

She pulls away from HIMO, keeping a more casual relaxed distance.
"As for learning more about people outside of your tribe, I would say what better reason for you to be here. Here in this fort with have peoples from all over the Sheldomar Valley, wood elves from the Oytwood, and allied races galore. This is the type of place where mutual victories are born. That is if you want it badly enough."

"You have to talk to other people to understand them beyond what you have been taught or perceived. Beyond that I cannot help you, unless you have more questions for me and my people in Lynlai at some point during our stay at this establishment."

FORT OLVEWATER
Moonday, Sunsebb 3rd, 586 CY
Time: 07:17:06

PA'CHEEN shakes his head and groans.
"Primes are so addle-coved. 'Battle-buddies'?? We are a pack and the primes what to use inane childish terms like this?"

LUSULA giggles quietly.
"Whatever term is used, the premise is the same."

PA'CHEEN straightens, extending his chest with a deep, proud inhale.
"I am a member of your pack, LUSULA. I am no one's 'battle buddy'."

LUSULA's grow taunt.
"Whatever, PA'CHEEN. Race you to the western side of the Olvewater."

PA'CHEEN smiles and his eyes sparkle.
"You're--"

LUSULA shot off for the shoreline of the fort, making a reckless charge for the icy water of the river. The troops watch her run past with awe.

PA'CHEEN runs after her screaming.
"Cheater!"

GHORENFORE watches as the two Baklunish run, without heed, into the waters of the Olvewater. This is the ford of the river, so the water is far from deep. However, this time of year it is freezing. LUSULA and PA'CHEEN seem unaffected and run or swim at amazing speed. GHORENFORE is certain they move faster than even BRAKUS.

MEL barks orders to the stunned troops and the canoes are assembled for another trip across the Olvewater.

MARILYN turns to GHORENFORE.
"While GLASSBLOWER's information may be useful, TA'HEED and his allies have been to NERRAUNE's recently. They went to ask the druid lord for assistance in finding another druid lord TERRADINE. They were answered by NERRAUNE's undead. Hence the reason they are looking to return the druid lord's hospitality. If you want a tactical 'lay of the land' and possible forces, I see no better source of information."

MARILYN points to LUSULA and PA'CHEEN, now halfway to the eastern shore of the Olvewater.
"And two of them are coming with us."

Ghorenfore looks at MARILYN,
"Thank you, I'll speak with both of them just to be sure I cover all avenues, In dealing with NERRUANE I get the feeling theres no such thing as to much information."
Ghorenfore smiles, nods and walks away.
Making his way to see Lady Glassblower before he leaves.

A few minutes later...
"Lady Glassblower," he says politely
"I was wondering If I could borrow a minute of your time. Any information you could provide us with on NERRAUNE would be extremely helpful. If you had any Tactical information, or layouts I would be most greatful."
Ghorenfore smiles at her making an effort to be as cordial as possible
"Also any information you could provide us with in dealing with him dirrectly may also proove helpful as well."

FORT OLVEWATER
Moonday, Sunsebb 3rd, 586 CY
Time: 07:19:00

GLASSBLOWER nods at GHORENFORE's request. Her eyes darken and her mood appears more subdued.
"I grew up knowing the druid lord NERRAUNE, when he was a druid lord. NERRAUNE knew my father and was connected to the elder wood elf families within the Oytwood. Even at his earliest days, he was a bit . . . different. The druid lords of the Oytwood, arrived and adopted their own important creatures and places to protect: TERRADEEN communed with plant life, FERRALGIN ran with the wolf packs, LYSTARN cavorted with and protected the fey, and ALOQUINN protected the waterways from his underwater grove. NERRAUNE had no aspirations to protect anything within the Oytwood. This was especially disheartening as he was the only wood elf in the Oytwood to receive the title of druid lord by the regional druids.

"NERRAUNE spent his early life observing the decay of life. He was fascinated with how dead things decomposed and new life rose in its place. With the aid of a wizard cleric of Murlynd, NERRAUNE discovered incredibly tiny creatures that aided the process of decay. NERRAUNE's journeys into this world once focused on the circle of life and death: old life decays and new life springs in its place. Unfortunately, his journey eventually took a turn for the worst. He became obsessed with the idea that if these creatures aided in the decay of the natural world, perhaps they channeled negative energy as undead do. He began to study undead, believing they had their place in the natural cycle. Afterall, the Negative Energy Plane is a natural facet of the multiverse and the undead channel their power from it, just like a cleric channels positive energy to heal. NERRAUNE even began to create a hierarchy of undead from the mindless automatons to those resemble the cunning instincts of predators to those undead that showed exemplary free will and sentience. NERRAUNE even created a 'tree of life' detailing the 'natural world' of the undead!

"I don't remember when, exactly, but the wizard/cleric of Murlynd parted ways with NERRAUNE. It may have been about twenty years ago and the wizard was never seen in this wood again. NERRAUNE continued to make trips to the Negative Energy Plane with nefarious contacts he made while traveling the planes. He called them the Doomguard.

"What a thing to guard: Doom.

"Anyway, NERRAUNE was not satisfied with his journeys and needed the power to channel negative energy himself. Others, including my father, told him that his path would take him from the graces of nature and even Obad-Hai, the deity NERRAUNE worshipped."

GLASSBLOWER takes a deep breath. She closes her eyes and bends her head to the ground. The locks of her coppery hair fall around her face, concealing it. She is still for a few moments. LOWLYN, who has been standing by her reaches out and grabs her shoulder gently.

LOWLYN glances at GHORENFORE.
"NERRAUNE presented his findings to a collection of druids and elders about five years ago. He presented his grotesque fiction that undead were part of the natural order. They were a form of rebirth, born from the natural process of decay fusing with negative energy. NERRAUNE showed his guest the extent of his study by showing his ability to channel negative energy to quicken decay. NERRAUNE blighted a beautiful garden of wildflowers he had grown himself for the purpose of their willful destruction. TERRADEEN stood up to leave and ALOQUINN cursed NERRAUNE, retracting his titled of druid lord. NERRAUNE only laughed and said that he turned away from the path of Obad-hai a year ago. That path would not lead him in the direction he needed to continue his studies. From the ground an assemblage of undead rose and battled with the unprepared elders. The druids lord escaped along with a few of the elders."

GLASSBLOWER's head falls into LOWLYN's chest. A quiet, child-like whimper emanates from the strains of coppery hair hiding her mouth.

LOWLYN holds GLASSBLOWER and places his chin on her head. He glances at GHORENFORE from his peripheral vision.
"GLASSBLOWER's father perished in the ambush, along with many others. It was discovered not long after that NERRAUNE had made some pact with the Reaper, Nerull. Undead began to haunt this area of the wood and NERRAUNE went deep underground to continue his research. When the giants attacked, NERRAUNE's betrayal became a smaller issue to the press of the giants. NERRAUNE's power has been able to grow unchecked for three years since the invasion."

Ghorenfore watches Lady Glassblower his heart goes out to her and on some level he can understand what loosing a parent can feel like. He knows its a wound that will never heal, and to loose one in such a matter, he realizes why she was so passionate about going to NERRUANE'S earlier and why not being able to go hurt so deeply.
Ghorenfore's eyes narrow,
"I can only imagine the pain you must feel, How deep that hurt must go."
He pauses attempting to find the right words
"I'll do everything in my power to make sure NERRUANE answers for it, This I swear."
Ghorenfore lowers his head for a breif moment and says a quiet silent prayer to Pelor. He feels for her in his heart, and wants to offer her some form of comfort, or council. But deep inside his gut his instinct tells him she would never accept it.
"If you have any information on the layout of his groove, it would be most helpful. Also do you know if any of the other Druid Lords would offer their help in defeating NERRUANE? If they were also betrayed by him perhaps we could use that to garner some form of assistance from them as well."

FORT OLVEWATER
Moonday, Sunsebb 3rd, 586 CY
Time: 07:23:36

GLASSBLOWER turns to face GHORENFORE. Her eyes are bloodshot and her cheeks are red and tearstreaked. Her blue irises quiver with rage and tormenting sadness. She speaks in a deep, menacing whisper as if possessed.
"As a paladin, I hold you to your vow!"

A moment later, without reason, her eyes cool. Her face disappears back into LOWLYN's chest.

LOWLYN shakes his head slowly. His eyes plead quietly with GHORENFORE, but the elf cannot find the words. Searching for stability he continues to answer GHORENFORE's questions.
"HALE TERRADEEN would help; he was the only druid lord who assisted when the giants invaded. However, he moved to the Southwest section of the Oytwood. He is helping the elves and woodsmen in Hopemeet to fend off the giants that hold Preston. He is too far away to be of any assistance to us. As far as the other druid lords are concerned, assistance from them is difficult in any season. LYSTARN retracted from the world to stay with the fey. Unless his friends are harmed, he will not flinch. Rumor has it that LYSTARN and his fey have gone mad with rage. ARLIE and I may have run across some of those fey about a month ago, and they barely let us live. FERRALGIN is as impassioned as the dire wolves he runs with. FERRALGIN hunts whatever and whomever he desires. If he crossed paths with NERRAUNE, FERRLAGIN would certainly fight, but that is the only way. Contacting FERRALGIN is dangerous, he may talk with you, he may ignore you, or he may try to eat you."

LOWLYN takes a long exasperated breath.
"Then there is the archdruid, ALOQUINN. The archdruid personifies nature. He seems to be uninterested in NERRAUNE, the giants, the woodsmen, or the wood elves. From his waterways he watches, but nothing more. It was believed that ALOQUINN should have struck NERRAUNE down, when ALOQUINN retracted the former druid's status, but he didn't. It's quite obvious that a conversation with ALOQUINN would yield little results, if he would even meet with you. However, we can attempt contact, but that is a dangerous proposition as well."

"When NERRAUNE unleashed his grave betrayal, it was Ehlonna, not Obad-Hai, that cursed him. The Seldarine Court permitted the curse to fall to NERRAUNE. NERRAUNE is not allowed to leave this area of the Oytwood. He cannot cross any bodies of water that border this section of the Oytwood. He also cannot exit the forest and head out to the north across the plains. Such a move would lead to his death. Neither can his minions. Except for NERRAUNE and TERRADEEN, none of the other druid lords called this area home. It was too civilized for the others. The woodsmen of Geoff used this area for their lumber with the aid of the local elves and TERRADEEN. The other druid lords are not bound to protect this area. With NERRAUNE contained by the edicts of Ehlonna, they probably see no reason to get involved."

"Back to your tactical question, we have not been able to do suitable reconnaissance at NERRAUNE's old grove. Three years ago I would tell that his grove was surrounded by two large ponds and a large thicket of holly trees. The trees concealed the entrance to the limestone caverns honeycombed underneath the Oytwood. I do not know what it looks like now."

"I can tell you that NERRAUNE is what is called a Blighter. Druids and Rangers think of them the same way you would treat a Blackguard. NERRAUNE's power comes directly from his ability to deforest large areas of forests or grasslands. The last scouting group I recieved intelligence from told me that the area within a half-mile raidus of NERRAUNE's old grove is twisted and dead. He has some ability to animate undead on his own, but I do not think he alone created the undead force that caused so much havoc three years ago. The only other piece of intelligence we have is that four druids were cursed with NERRAUNE. Oddly, they did not lose their druid status, but instead became twisted mockeries of druids, undead and evil. It is believed they were killed during the ambush, but that was not enough for Seldarine Court. The court wanted those elves to be cursed with unlife until they repented their crimes. Or it could have been the court's wish to keep them from Arvandor for all eternity. I believe we already destroyed one of them."

" No rest for the vile darkness foul fucker." HLIN says as she hears the story of NERRAUNE's betrayal

as she contuines to speaks, as she looks at GHORENFORE "Well besides our first plan going to hell in a hand basket of reconnaissance. Do you have anyother plans to help but combat buddies?"

HIMO goes over to matser sgt. MEL ask "What if we had a small strike force ma'am?"

HLIN asks "So GHORENFORE when do we start and how do you what the teams made, Because i was thinking of MARILYN, PA'CHEEN, LUSULA, you and I are the heavy hitters but MARILYN and you are the healers of the group."

HIMO says "And we would need to add spikes into the river when we get a chance."

"Well GHORENFORE what you say we kick ass and take names later." HLIN says with half grin.

Ghorenfore took a deep breath Knowing deep down Pelor's light would guide his hand. There was no doubt now about his mission or his cause, Lady Glassblower had done him and this war an enormous favor by the mere prospect of being willing to be open to the discussion and an alliance. She had taken a chance, no doubt there were those among her kind that most likely objected to the very thought. It truly dawned on him in that moment how difficult this journey could have been for her, and with no true guarantee of a pay-off it was a massive risk.

Hers must be the voice of reason..
he thought silently to himself

Perhaps this was his chance to prove to her, and to those among her kind, that the humans could be trusted. To give something back, surely Lady Glassblower wasn't the only one who had been hurt by NERRUANE, who had suffered deep emotional trauma as a result of his treachery. This was Ghorenfore’s chance, to lead the assault that could bring some form of Justice for the elves. To give some meaning to a would be alliance that could blossom in the ashes of NERRUANES destruction.

Ghorenfore listened to Lowlyn as he tells him of each of the Druid Lords,

More futility, and more people who don’t care... he thought to himself again. Ghorenfore never did understand Druids or their heathen ways. One would think that the suffering of others under your very ‘roof’ so to speak would be enough to become involved. The brotherhood that Ghorenfore wanted to build would stand together as Elves and Man built the alliance with the help of a few friends, but it WOULD STAND, regardless of the apathy of those who claimed to protect the forest.

Ghorenfore placed a hand on Lady Glassblowers Back and lowered his head
“My Vow to you, and my Bond, from Pelors to Hands to my sword, to your Fathers honored memory, NERRUANE will pay.”
Ghorenfore paused
“And If ever you should need my council I am here, as a freind and ally.”

Ghorenfore Nods to Lowlyn and mouths the words "Thank you" to him as he turns to HLIN

Quote :
HLIN asks "So GHORENFORE when do we start and how do you what the teams made, Because i was thinking of MARILYN, PA'CHEEN, LUSULA, you and I are the heavy hitters but MARILYN and you are the healers of the group."

"With Pa’cheen and Lusula's speed, I am thinking they will serve as excellent scouts and move ahead of us, keeping an eye out for any trouble, Keeping in mind I want no engagement, until we can regroup. At Night I want to keep a very secure perimeter and sleep next to your partner. Will pair off based on who can complement each other the best. Obviously Lusula and Pa’cheen will stay together, Hlin you’ll be with Marilyn. Fennigan and Lowlyn are better Range units, and Martin can pair off with me.”
Ghorenfore smiled and nodded as he walked with Hlin
It was time...

FORT OLVEWATER
Moonday, Sunsebb 3rd, 586 CY
Time: 07:28:36

MEL turns to HIMO and says,
"HIMO, I cannot sanction any sort of strike team, unless you give me more information. For instance, what exactly would a strike team be striking against? And as far as spikes in the water. You will have to elaborate more at a later date. Now is not the time. We have to see the lieutenant and his strike force off."

MEL marches to the canoes and inspects the situation.

Time: 08:00:00

GHORENFORE, HLIN, MARTIN, MARILYN, LOWLYN, and FENNIGAN join PA'CHEEN and LUSULA on the eastern shore of the Olvewater. PA'CHEEN is sitting up against an oak, chewing on a large reed of grass. His lax posture and glassy stare betrays his boredom. LUSULA is standing next to him.

At the arrival of the rest of the team, PA'CHEEN stands.
"Finally, we can get moving! NERRAUNE's not getting any weaker by stalling."

PA'CHEEN and LUSULA's skin begin to shimmer until their familiar forms become translucent. GHORENFORE, HLIN, MARTIN, FENNIGAN, and LOWLYN watch as the Baklunish people they recognize are replaced by six to seven-foot tall lupine humanoids. The Baklunish forms fade away like a dream leaving only the fearsome, but regal, lupine forms. PA'CHEEN's clashing wardrobe does not change and LUSULA's mane remains braided with many bright flowers.

MARILYN is not alarmed by the change. She casually walks up to PA'CHEEN.
"We are ready then?"

PA'CHEEN retorts with a growl and a bow of respect.
"I've been ready, sword maiden."

LUSULA looks at the other members of the assualt party.
"I apologize, but we travel better in our real forms."
She points cautiously at PA'CHEEN.
"Whatever your reaction, do not mention werewolf, it offends PA'CHEEN greatly."

PA'CHEEN ears perk up at "werewolf".
"Last thing I want is to be connected with such degenerate creatures!"

MARILYN laughs quietly. Smiling, she turns to GHORENFORE
"Let's head out, Lieutenant."

LOWLYN regains his composure as he pushes this issue aside.
"Lieutenant, we will head south along the Olvewater. It will take us a little bit of extra time, but it will keep us from running afoul of NERRAUNE early. He will not be watching the river."

The team head into the forest with PA'CHEEN and LUSULA starting off with an impressive lead. The team heads into the Oytwood for a conflict with the former druid lord, NERRAUNE.

END THREAD
