Ravenloft: Order of the Torch: The Blessed Empty
PostSubject: Ravenloft: Order of the Torch: The Blessed   Ravenloft: Order of the Torch: The Blessed EmptyThu Aug 18, 2011 10:20 pm

Below are the NPCs (plus one PC) that are part of the Blessed. One of the characters here is gone, completely, but he could be referenced, so I included him. I probably will not finish this with one post, so there will be more than one.

Saint Auriella (Human Cleric of Ezra)
Auriella was a humble Anchorite from Mordentshire. She was an orphan and raised by Patriarch Nortoth. Auriella became a cleric of Ezra as she had no other opportunities and no one wanted a seven year old orphan. Not too long after her confirmation as a priestess, Auriella became embroiled in the plots of the Brotherhood of the Sash, starting with saving the little girl Stephanie. The little girl became a target for mysterious reason by the Brotherhood. However, it was known that the little girl could somehow be located by Headmaster Yasbeau Haldane, the leader of the Brotherhood. The Brotherhood, thinking that the girl had some great part to play in their rise to power tried to kidnap her. When they failed at that, they killed her. Auriella picked up the stricken girl in her arms and prayed to Ezra for the girl to be brought back. Auriella also swore that she would sacrifice her own life if needed so the girl would live. A prismatic light broke through the clouds like a beam from a rainbow. Both Auriella and Stephanie were engulfed by the beam and the young girl returned to life. Auriella herself was drained and slumped to the street unconscious with a pallor to her skin that looked like death. Auriella was revived, but the death-like color to her skin has never faded. She can never tan and always appears sickened although she is healthy. For five years Auriella tried to track the Brotherhood with a vengeance. She is the founder of the Blessed, she was also granted Ezra's Blessing, a weapon specfically designed to battle undead for when she finally meets Yasbeau Haldane, now known as The Headmaster, who has become a powerful and elusive lich. She continues her work in Mordentshire with Nortoth, who returned from the strange land of Manifest months ago. Their relationship is strained, although Auriella has no idea why. Auriella still protects Stephanie with her life.

Marregrin Seraffine (Gnome Illusionist/Mindbender)
Marregrin is Auriella best friend and the brains behind the Blessed. She can be conniving and manipulative, but she does so for the greater good and for the Blessed. Her heart is always in the right place, but her desire for vengeance is greater than Auriella's. Marregrin uses misdirection and enchantment magics to fool enemies or bend them to her will. Her ability to create an underground information network within The Core has been helpful for the Blessed, but it has not allowed them to locate The Headmaster. However, new evidence has hinted at Nevachar Springs right under the nose of the Church of Ezra located there. Marregrin is also close friends with the ranger Nadril. She continued to speak with him through a sending while he was being tortured by the Brotherhood. It was her companionship that kept Nadril from folding until he was rescued.

Hector (Human Fighter)
Hector is a former Talon from Falkovnia. When Nortoth was taken by the Brotherhood and placed in a Talon prison in Dolbyn, Auriella and her team went to Dolbyn to break him out. Under the disguise of Marregrin's illusions the team infiltrated the compound and came across Talon guards. Hector, the leader of these guards, was suspicious of the new recruits he was staring at; however, he was unprepared for the sudden ambush when Marregrin dropped the illusion. He surrendered quickly, though his men were cut down. The Blessed's audacity and Marregrin's strength of character intrigued him, everyone other than Talon's were supposed to be weak and breakable. Hector helped the team save Nortoth and left with them. Hector has been Marregrin's bodyguard ever since. He is the weapon when Marregrin's magics fail her.

Nadril (Half-elf Ranger)
Nadril was an original member of the Blessed as well. He was a close friend with Ivan and Auriella. He was captured on a reconnaissance mission into Falkovnia to learn about a meeting of the Brotherhood and Vlad Drakov. He spent almost a year imprisoned in an unknown location with only Marregrin and The Headmaster's brother, Allaster to talk to. The Brotherhood wanted the location of the hidden temple to Ezra that the Blessed used as a base of operation. Marregrin has shielded it with powerful illusions they have not yet been able to pierce. Nadril refused to give in, especially with Marregrin's faithful voice in his head. He was freed by the Order and the Blessed when Varrish's compound was assaulted as that was Nadril's prison as well. Nadril has been close to Marregrin ever since. He is also upset at Ivan's apparent lack of interest in the Blessed.

Ivan Sokoros (Human Fighter)
Ivan is a native of Mordentshire and his family has been utterly annihilated through the schemes of the Brotherhood. He battled alongside Auriella at the Battle of Haywood Mines and during the rescue of Nortoth. Soon after that, he became the head constable for the armed guards in Mordentshire. Those duties have taken him out of the inner loop of the Blessed. He is also beginning to see the Mayor's fear that the Blessed ruffle too many feathers to keep Mordentshire safe with their presence. Ivan has been making it more difficult for the Blessed to operate within the city. Marregrin and Ivan are no longer friends at all. Marregrin has no respect for his supposed position of leadership. In truth, Ivan also doubts Auriella's saint status. It has been nearly six years since she was sainted and there has been little end to the troubles in Mordent. She can't fix it, so she cannot be as great as she claims (Auriella does not claim greatness). This doubt is also a projection of Ivan's own failings to court her five years ago when he had taken a liking to her. He still has such feelings, but he see them as childish and loathes them.

Ravenloft: Order of the Torch: The Blessed Empty
PostSubject: Re: Ravenloft: Order of the Torch: The Blessed   Ravenloft: Order of the Torch: The Blessed EmptyFri Aug 19, 2011 10:10 pm

Other members of the Blessed who are of minor importance and a couple of NPCs guarded by the Blessed.

Cian Silverleaf (Elven Ranger)
Cian was once a strong member of the Blessed. She had a strong heart and was prepared to die for Auriella's cause. However, several events have broke this once proud elf. She traveled with Nadril to Dolbyn to look into the Brotherhood's meeting with Vlad Drakov. When the two were captured, they were separated. Cian became the prisoner of the Talons in Lekar. They beat, tortured and raped her. She was freed by Stoutheart and the Order of the Torch. Later it was discovered she was pregnant (she still is). Darius promised to be by her side as long as was needed to help see her through. He even wanted to aid her in raising the child as neither believed the child should be blamed for the Talons' crimes. However, the Order returned to Mordentshire without Stoutheart and Darius when Varrish split the team in the Mists. Cian has felt abandoned and alone. Her only solace now is being with Stephanie. Cian has lost her spark.

Akron Silvershield (Dwarf Cleric of Ezra)
Akron appeared some time ago to the Blessed. He was brought to the lost temple under the guidance of the Lady of the Mists herself, Ezra. Accompanying him were 30 holy warriors to swear their allegiance to Auriella. They became the Blessed's paramilitary branch. Their presence is a thorn in Ivan's side. A third of these troops were killed when the Blessed and the Order attacked Varrish's compound.

Stephanie (Human Little Girl)
Stephanie appears to be the young girl that is the center of all of these troubles. It is unknown why the Brotherhood is so interested in her. As of late the Brotherhood has not focused on Stephanie or Mordentshire. They are mobilizing forces in other places, but it is certain they will try for the young girl again. Stephanie was raised by the Ivan's parents after the girl was found in a desecrated temple to Ezra. Ivan's mother was then murdered and his father ran off with the girl. The Blessed tracked him down to protect them both from Allaster Haldane, Yasbeau's brother. Stephanie was killed by Aiden Synhill in another attempt, but Auriella's sacrifice brought her back to life. The girl is very curious and opinionated. She is not easily frightened and seems baffling calm about the events that have transpired. As of late she has confided in Auriella about having dreams of a young boy tortured incessantly by horrid dreams.

Emerald Skye (Human Commoner)
Emerald is a young woman who Stoutheart saved because his instincts, or Yondalla, told him to. Emerald had become a target, it is believed, by the Brotherhood when her jewelry shop was burned to the ground. Robbery and arson were apparently not the goals of the crime, it had to have been murder. It was discovered that Emerald was Stephanie's sister, but Stephanie's last name was not Skye. This led to the question as to whether Stephanie's first murdered mother and father were her birth parents. It is still not known how Yasbeau Haldane, the Headmaster, is connected to the two girls and how he can sense them beyond the walls of the Temple of Ezra.

Nortoth (Human Cleric of Ezra)
Nortoth is an old man and has been the patriarch of the Mordentshire Temple to Ezra for a long time. He was kidnapped by the Brotherhood and tortured for information about Stephanie. However, Nortoth knew nothing. He was rescued by Auriella and the Blessed and disappeared soon after that. Nortoth was taken from Ravenloft to Manifest, for unknown reasons. It is not even known if Ezra was the one who sent him. While in Manifest he traveled for some time and learned things about the Haldanes he will not reveal. Something about his travels also shedded light on Auriella and who really sainted her in the streets of Mordentshire. This secret has kept Nortoth closed to Auriella.
